Well...some previous comments suggest that Brit Gas are looking into it, although it doesn't seem as though they are rushing to do anything about it. Considering the comments go back 9 months. anyway. Had this number ringing the last couple of weeks to which I've not been able to answer quick enough. An auto recorded message was left on my answer phone. Last call I was able to though and was greeted by a knuckle dragging halfwit incapapableof stringing two words together. She mentioned something about a bill/debt being owed. As I have not been with Brit gas over a year I told her to go and( insert word) herself.

souh african women didnt know last postcode probably using all our ddtails online .the company changed every ones accounts to a new database just when they overcharged 100 pounds. They probably got hacked in that period and thats how they got are details.

This number called me while I was talking to British Gas. I did not answer, so I do not know who they were. But how could it be British Gas if I was already on the phone with them?

I initially declined a call from this number as the name cme up as FANK, which meant nothing to me. A quick Google check suggested that this was a scam so I blocked the number. I subsequently receved a text message from a different number, in which the caller identified themselves as someone from British Gas regarding an ongoing billing dispute. They asked when it would be convenient to call back. They were able to provide sufficient pertinent information to clarify that the call was genuine. However the first time they tried to call back my number block meant that they could not get through! A further texte was received stating that the claim handler would call again. I removed the call block and eventually spoke to the handler who was dealing with my claim. She had no idea that their number would show up as FANK, and is not aware as to why this is what shows from Britsh Gas call centre. My query was resolved but the issue over FANK and not British Gas being shown will be sent to BG

Phoned me today. Came up as British Gas calling. Knew my name and 1st part of postcode. He said it was about my bill which I said its been paid. Thanked me for paying and I hung up.

its a scam guessing from india as they left a voicemail and knew my name but I checked the number on the internet and blocked them

They rang saying they were british gas, i said prove it, whats my account no. He the account number was correct and he knew they exact amount of my bill. I told him the bill was paid last week so who are you? He said debt collector for BG, I told him i'd paid as soon as i received my bill and said i am not in any debt with anyone and told him he's a liar and to get lost.

I received a call from this number just as two British gas engineers (who came to install a smart meter) had left my premises. I didn't answer because I was already on the phone to British gas to make a complaint but about something the engineers broke. I have since called British gas and told them about this number and they said it definitely wasn't them and that they'll be investigating this incident and potentially the engineers that came to my home that day.

British gas returning a call regarding a complaint I'd lodged a few days prior. BG confirmed to me by email that it was them who had been ringing me. Unfortunately because just the phone number that appears and not the name of British gas, I chose to ignore the call. The following email sent to me confirmed it was a genuine call from BG. BG Service <service_energy@britishgas.co.uk> 10:21 (52 minutes ago) to me Good morning I have attempted calling you today regarding your complaint but i could not reach you. I was really only suspicious because they called me today and said my bill was overdue, but it is due to be paid today, so technically it is not overdue. I told them they were being cheeky. I wouldn't have paid it over the phone anyway. They knew the first half of my postcode, my bill due date and the exact amount owed. DON'T BE FOOLED!!!

Pretending to be British Gas. Had the first few letters of my post code and the amount on my last bill. It still gave off some big red flags, like the caller ID not showing British Gas but "FANK"... and then when I said I would call British Gas back separately they tried to get me to stay on the line and pressure me to pay immediately. I then did contact British Gas and they did not recognise the number as theirs. BEWARE

They call 2-4 times most weekdays. I'm not sure if they are linked to British Gas but their name usually comes up on screen when they call so I am somewhat dubious.

This is a scam demanding money owed to British gas do not answer or give money spoke to British gas and they have not phoned me in months it is a call centre in India British gas are looking into why this number has been able to access their customers details as they knew my fiances name address and the exact amount that was owed to British gas

got a call from this number with the word FANK where the number should be and was a few minutes after making a written complaint about excessive DD payments so probably from B-gas; although why not use that name rather than FANK?
