I got a call Thames Water, basically because I was overdue paying my bill. I confirmed my date of birth only, and that was enough for them to tell me the amount outstanding and ask about payment. I'm pretty sure it was legitimate, it tied in with what the bill said, but as they'd called me I said I would pay online rather than over the phone. Just standard good practice.

Stupid scam. Scams like these may know your address, full name … and will ask you to confirm another piece of personal information to pass ‘data protection’. Always question them.

Called up this morning saying they were thames water. I totally believed them for a while. So upsetting.

This is the Thames Water Financial Customer Care Number, this number was shared with me during a call with the TW main customer service line

Called a number of times but wary of reports on here about being spam. As expected, they knew name and address and claimed to be Thames Water then wanted me to confirm DOB for security. Called them out for being spam and not willing to provide, got pushy and threatened that I would receive more calls and texts (no mention of official comms from Thames Water) and could impact credit score. Block block block and contact Thames Water directly!

They called twice today and i answered the second one. They know my name, address of my previous property, and move out date. They also have an email address on file of my letting agency, so they seem super legit. I had my guard up because 1. they asked to confirm my DoB, like i doubt TW has that info, and 2. the accent was a bit suspicious and 3. they were clearly calling from a call center and when he's not speaking, there's very strong noise cancelling that it sounds like the line has gone dead but hey that could've been just TW being cheap...They demanded i pay for missed invoice since moving out, i said send me the invoice and we'll see. The whole call they weren't super pushy but at the end they did threaten with repeated calls and credit score harm. Now blocked.

They pretend to be Thames Water and tried to scam you with the wrong moving out dates, they know your name, and the old rental address. This kind of information should not even be available to scammers like them. Strongly suspect that Thames Water leaked our information.

Been calling/harrassing me since November. I almost fell for it. They are very pushy and I kept thinking why would TW open an account in my name when I live with someone else - surely they can’t. The second thing was they only seemed to know one address from 2 years ago and the third suspicious thing was that they seemed to have an account number that didn’t match the one I had on my online portal. The math was not mathing. Glad I phone this in time!!

Had numerous calls from this number. As a rule, I never answer numbers that are not in my phone anyway. If it's a genuine caller they would leave a message but they never do. Also I don't trust someone who calls you then asks for your personal details. If they are calling to ask for payment why do you need to pass a security check for that? A random person is not going to pay my bill for me are they?? If only 🙄🤣🤣

A woman called me today, claiming to be from Thames Water and said she was contacting me about an outstanding balance. She was very pushy and pressured me to make the payment over the phone. I explained that I preferred to pay online and that I wasn’t even home to access my bank account details. She insisted I use my banking app to retrieve the information and argued that paying over the phone was better, warning that online payments could take a couple of days and potentially affect my credit score. I repeated that I would make the payment online regardless. Later, when I tried calling back, the automated system confirmed it was Thames Water. Still, the whole interaction felt quite strange—the woman was unusually pushy in trying to get me to pay over the phone

Claiming to be Thame Water they wont answer questions, they dont know my real details just the cover ones i use online in case of scams. Looks like a few people on this site think its safe and sent them money, but i would recommend that even if you believe them go to their website and Email Thames water directly and you will soon find out these people have nothing to do with the genuine company. Even if it was the real Thames Water you should still not let people dictate how and when you pay that is up to you meaning if you fall for this that is also on you.

They are genuinely from Thames Water, as someone who receives tons of scam calls I picked up this call and heard a man with a south-asian accent and immediately thought of the worst (bad stereotype to have) but then he swiftly sent me an email from a verified Thames Water address and also set me up a payment plan (as i've been behind on payments), they'll give you the option to pay by phone or web, always choose web to calm any doubts you have!

It is TW. I recommend pay online and they will stop calling.

Got a call from them claiming they're Thames water they knew my name and address and wanted me to pass a security check .. I said I'll call Thames directly -- fishy to ask me for a security check when you called me, also wouldn't expect Thames to have such good customer service that they call me first!

Got a silenced call from this number due to my phone settings. Came on here to check it out. Number now blocked. However had numerous texts about Thames water so wasn’t surprised to hear that it was them trying to get through. Block this number if it calls you. Funny thing is I live nowhere near Thames water area!

Called pretending to be from Thames water even though I've already closed my account with them. Asked for my personal information to "pass data protection" when they were the ones who called me in the first place. I told him if it was important they have my email and can just send me an email.

Called early this morning claiming to be Thames water, refused to tell me what the call was regarding unless I answered some question to pass security. I asked why i need to pass security when it is them that called me.. ive never known any company to call me asking me to confirm personal details. Im always suspicious of such calls so as soon as it clicked this was an unusual call, I simply hung up,blocked and reported the number.
