They were demanding my email address when I set up my Sky account to give me discount. I do not have Sky and it was clear to me that this was a scam

Yes, scammers. Talk at your peril.

They rang me. The call showed their number. However the message "Very Likely Spam" with a "Dangerous" warning meant I didn't answer. When the call rang out, I googled the number. And got here. Having read the comments I marked it as dangerous. B/c although I didn't answer, the individuals that did had negetive responses with it.
