When I picked up the phone. He started the conversation by asking how I was. So I asked him ' who he was' he said British Gas and asked how my boiler was. I couldn' t understand all he said but it was to do with some documents and he wanted my banks details to verify who I was. I told him I wasn't giving those to him and he was really forceful. I told him I would call British Gas to verify who he was and I put the phone down. British Gas told me it was a scam. the number he called from 0141 378 5547 was an old British Gas number they didn't use any more. Today received a call from the same number. when I asked who he was he said British Gas then went on to ask how my boiler was. Was it working ok to which I said yes it was and then he did a spiel about how they had up graded my boiler cover and I now had no claims bonus now ( lol ) So I replied 'fantastic' Then he went on to ask my bank sort code. He needed the details to verify who I was.... lol de ja vu

BEWARE this is an organised scam. I have just received a call from this number. I have domestic appliance insurance so was drawn in. They wanted my bank details to confirm my account as the DD was changing. I repeatedly asked why. The reason was contradictory. Very insistent...spoke over me...so harassing manner, but worryingly were after my data. I asked them to confirm my policy number but they said the policy numbers had changed and had no access to the old numbers. I asked them to confirm what they needed in writing. That's when they hung up. I can't remember if they mentioned the company I'm with but my brain made that link for a while. I persisted because I want to make themselves get tied up in knots. It was a call centre with many voices in the background, clearly no Glaswegian accents amongst them, all talking about domestic appliances. This is an organised scam. I wish I was as quick thinking as William and had had some Black Sabbath on hand!

Phone call from William … call centre … selling some sort of insurance scheme for household appliances … called him a liar … and a thief … then played him some zz top … then almost immediately got a phone call from … 0115784600 … he was extremely angry … started swearing at me … so he got more zz top … and eventually hung up …
