Received a text claiming a payment had been paused and urging me to call a number if the transaction was not mine. This appears designed to create panic and trick recipients into making contact.

Message impersonated a card provider claiming suspicious activity and attempted to trick user into contacting the number.

Has a text saying they were from barclaycard and that they have put a hold on a possible fraudalent transaction from Airbnb. I rang the number and the guy was convincing and asked questions on other financial accounts I have and said that the FCA would be ringing me back on whatsapp as it was safer... This rang bells with me and I rang barclaycard who confirmed it was a scam and there was no hold on any payment... A guy who called himself Alex Hunter rand back shortly after claiming to be from FCA... I played along for a bit before calling him out. He rang back shortly after to take the muck. What an absolute whopper. 100% scam. Don't contact them

Definite scam. The caller sounded convincing at first but then started asking questions about how much money was in my bank account. That was enough to confirm it was fraudulent.

Received a text claiming a large payment had been placed on hold and asking me to call this number. I rang from a spare phone out of curiosity. It quickly became clear that this was a scam, so I ended the call immediately and blocked the number.
