These scammers often impersonate HMRC, claiming you owe tax or fines and threatening legal action or arrest if immediate payment isn’t made. They may ask for personal details or bank account information to "clear" the issue. HMRC will never contact you via phone or text to demand immediate payment. If you receive one of these calls, hang up and report the number. Always verify directly with HMRC through their official contact channels.
