They claimed I had an active claim with a specific finance company. I told them to stop calling me as I knew they were just trying to scam me.

This is a multi fraud set up. They phoned me about debts (I have very little), then other likely worries. They seem to be using unknown source personal data (lifted?). They are cheeky, they ask for bank account details to investigate/resolve 1-2 large sums withdrawn from my bank (untrue). They rely on panic. No bank service ever asks for every identifying detail for an account enquiry. If you do get scammed, phone your bank. Look at your bank account regularly. One scam that came from the US cloned subscription details, then debiting (building up to £25). It is easy to miss at first. If in doubt ask the bank for a new debit card and do not keep your 3 digit debit card verification code on your phone. I think there are 4-5 different scams. Look up who they are, check the company. And if you see nice goods on Social media, go to the website for purchases. Some are very reputable, others are dreadful. If in doubt, do not be embarrassed,- you were targeted. Contact your bank.
