Caller stayed silent at first then repeatedly said can you hear me with pauses in between. It felt like a suspicious attempt possibly to trigger a verbal response.

Same as commenter 51 mins ago. Convincing female voice. Imagine something will be recording response and going from there in some kind of scam. I would recommend just hanging up.

I receive repeated calls from 01306 230 852 saying "Can you hear me". I say yes. Then caller repeats the question, then rings off. Presumably they are checking that my number is a genuine number and someone is answering. Its an unlisted number. Goodness only knows what they will do with the assurance they have gained that my number is a genuine one. CONCERNING.
